Tracy's "Wedding Style" Wedding

I had the pleasure to work with Tracy Freedman (Fashion Editor for Wedding Style Magazine) for her August 15th wedding in the heart of Boston. I met Tracy three years ago when she hired me to work on a photo shoot for the magazine. It was also great to hang out with Grace Ormond (Editor of Wedding Style Magazine). Grace is also one of the most down to earth and most genuine woman that I've ever met.

Tracy's wedding was one of the most lavish and stylish weddings that I've ever been a part of. Tracy made sure that she lined up the best in the industry to make her day so special, and I was honored when she included me in the group to do her makeup. I absolute loved working with her, and I look forward to picking up the January issue of Wedding Style Magazine, since her wedding will be one of the main features. Tracy, I was honored to have shared that day with you.

Six Pence Heat it up in February!

There is a select group of vendors in my profession that I truly LOVE working with and honestly with whom I feel that special connection! Lindsay and Talia, the fabulous event planning duo from Sixpence Events, is one of those vendors! I met Lindsay and Talia several years ago when they hired me to do their wedding makeup, and after their wedding, they decided to partner up and start their own event planning company. Their business has truly skyrocketed, and they have become one of the most sought out event planners in CT and New England. They have such amazing and creative ideas that make every event truly memorable! They are truly worth every penny!

I was so excited when they called to schedule hair and makeup for this fabulous photo shoot. However, they patiently waited to schedule an appointment, since I was traveling on business. Once I returned from California, we finally met up in my salon last Saturday, and my glam squad got to work! I worked on their makeup makeup, while Elise and Yolanda, our resident hairstylists, created their glam hair styles. The ladies trusted us to create a hair and makeup look that would photograph beautifully outside. The makeup and hair in the photos look stunning! The photographers Justin and Mary of http://www.justinmarantz.com/ worked with the most amazing natural light that just made the ladies look like cover models. The ladies are truly naturals in front of the camera! As always, we love working with you Lindsay and Talia. Here's to an amazing 2009! You ladies Rock!!

Working with "The Connecticut Bride"

I was so excited when the latest issue of The Connecticut Bride came out this month. Angela (hairstylist) and Janice (makeup artist) were both featured artists. I'm so proud of these two ladies for so many reasons:

• They are extremely dedicated to our clients, our business and their crafts!
• They have an extremely high level of integrity
• Their passion drives their success!
• They are in such high demand, that they are usually booked one year in advance, and average over 100 weddings in a year!

They are the two in my team that have been with me the longest, and I'm so proud of the recognition that they are receiving for their amazing talent!

"Who's Wedding is it Anyway"?

We were so excited to work with Ginger and her bridal party on her wedding day (12.20.08). Ginger and Nick were cast on Season 9 of "Whose Wedding is it Anyway" which will air in March 2009 on the Style Network. Angela and Yolanda (two of my fab. hairstylist) made everyone's hair look "picture perfect". Stay tuned for specific air dates.

We also worked again with the amazing Michelle Huston (photographer) ://www.michellehuston.com/, and celebrity party planner Shawn Rabideau http://www.shawnrabideau.com/bio.html . Nick and Ginger's theme was an elegant winter wonderland that truly was breathtaking! Other vendors that also made this day magical were: Rob from Correlation Productions, who was in charge of the lighting design, and Jordan Caterers. The event was held at the prestigious Guilford Yacht Club.

Ginger emailed us after the wedding. This is what she had to say about her hair and makeup:

Hot Makeup on a cold winter day

Jessica and Lindsay braved a snow storm to come and get their hair and makeup done at our salon with myself and Elise (resident hairstylist) for a photoshoot. Although Jessica and Lindsay don't wear much makeup, they wanted to look completely different and very glamorous. They trusted us with their look, and here are some of the photos. It was a lot of fun working with them!

2008: What an AMAZING year!

In June 2008, my husband (Richard) decided that it was time to quit his job and join me in the salon as a full-time Manager. Although I have an Office Assistant, other aspects of managing the business for me became increasingly difficult, since I was busy all day working with my clients. That is why, I was so excited when Richard analyzed our business and implemented effective changes. He saw the need to computerize our appointment booking and cashing-out system, create an online booking system, create informative salon brochures, develop a more effective marketing campaign, and also redesign our reception and waiting area. The redesign has provided our Office Staff with a more productive working environment and our clients with a more relaxing waiting area while they drink their coffee, water, tea or wine. We have received so many compliments on our new look. Many clients have let us know how relaxing our salon is, and how they truly feel at home here. Richard has truly taken our business to the next level.

2008 was definetly a year where our business experienced a lot of amazing growth and change. Naomi's Hair & Makeup Team continued to grow, and we now have a total of 13 artists with the company. I'm truly blessed to be working alongside such amazing and talented ladies, and the constant positive feedback that I receive from satisfied clients makes me value them even more!! We also worked with over 500 brides this year. Many of those brides left us with such beautiful memories of their special day. It truly is special to work with brides, and they remind us of why are jobs are so fulfilling and worthwhile!

Cystic Fibrosis Fashion Show

This fall we donated our hair and makeup services for this great fashion show to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The National Jean Company in West Hartford provided the wardrobe for this event. We truly had a blast with the models and the staff. The models loved their hair and makeup so much that they all decided to go out and party after the show! It truly felt great to give back to our community and we have many more fashion shows lined up.

Tina's Million Dollar Look

Yolanda (hairstylist) and myself absolutely loved working with Tina for her Oct, '08 wedding. She loved her glamorous look, and her wedding photos are truly breathtaking. We were so honored to be part of her special day. Her photograher Netmartin did such an amazing job at capturing her beautiful glow!
